It's one thing to 'dumb-down' for the casual listener (I like Russel Watson myself) but is there nothing else but to once more be given the same tedius music? Yet ANOTHER version of 'Time To Say Goodbye'. The piano is about 20 years old now and yet another need to provide us with'The Heart Asks Pleasure First'. WHY? Surprise surprise- 'Ave Maria'. And this version is necessary because... Aled Jones did it last weekend? 'In Paradisum' AGAIN?! 'Tears In Heaven'- AGAIN?!?!? I can't see why it appeared the first time. Finally, didn't we already have Nicola Benedetti's version of 'Meditation From Thais?'
And then there's the pop tunes masquerading as serious contemporary music- 'All By Myself'? They couldn't have the original Rachmanicoff?
Shore's 'Into The West' a couple of years ago remains my highlight of the series but what on earth is with this saccharinne ballad by someone named Will Martin?
I don't know what 'Danny Boy' is doing here as the great Bryn Terfel performs it in an extrememly maudlin duet.
Theme From Inspector Morse- Why not theme from Doctor Who for 2010? 'Imagine' must have been inserted as an antidote to 'The Lord is my Shepherd.' And do we really need every pop hit transformed by an Philharmonic Orchestra as with the case of 'Yellow'.
There are a couple of memorable tunes to pad out the fluff, but this is a 2 CD set!
